If you are OVER 18, leave parents, boyfriends/girlfriends/wives/husbands at home. But don't go alone.
If you are under 18, this is a MUST, parents need to know what is going on with their child, the child can not sign contracts, they may not be mature enough and are easily taken advantage of. If you are over 18, it is a MUST that spouses or boyfriends or girlfriends of the model are not allowed on the model's photo shoots.
The reason is that many shoots require models to interact - especially with a model of the opposite sex. The last thing you need is for your boyfriend or girlfriend to deck a fellow model. I cannot put other models in danger like this. Also, depending on the relationship dynamics, the romantic partner often becomes a distraction to the model and ruins the shoot. The main focus of the shoot should be the interaction between the model and the photographer, not anyone else. If they care, tell them they are not allowed to go. I make very few exceptions to this rule but please discuss it with me if you have questions.
The second part of this is don't go alone, that just makes sense, have a bodyguard, a friend, (either same or opposite sex). If your escort is another model that I can work with in the shoot, even better! Either way, it doesn't matter, as long as you are NOT romantically connected with them, currently, past, or possibly in the future, in fact, or by their own miss understood implications. This is just a safety thing, they always say safety in numbers. Also tell someone who isn't with you where you are going, and set up a time for the person with you to call and check in. This isn't necessary all the time, but anytime you go somewhere new, this should be the case, It should be the case all the time, but as you grow comfortable you might feel it is unnecessary. However I would advise that no matter where you are going, model agency, photo shoot, or even meeting with another model, these rules still apply. I will not be alone so neither should you.
I never shoot female models under 18 together with male models regardless of parent/guardian presence.
Also, I never do nude shoots and I will never insist that you do anything you are uncomfortable with. If at any time you are uncomfortable or need a moment just stop the shoot and tell me what is wrong, I will do my best to fix it!
PLEASE TELL ME IF YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW TO SWIM BEFORE THE SHOOT IS BOOKED!!! I will not plan shoots that involve (deep) water or open ocean if you can't swim. Other (safe) settings are available for swimsuit shoots.
